Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Despite our betrayals, God continues to offer us complete forgiveness and restoration if we will simply return to Him and renounce our wicked ways. He implores us to repent of our sins and wash ourselves in His cleansing flood. An inner cleansing of the heart and mind is what the Lord desires of all His people, which should be reflected in outward deeds of righteousness and social justice. We are not to attempt to reason with the Lord by defending our behaviors and argue our innocence. Because we are not innocent. We are to admit that His ways are perfect and good…that they are right and righteous altogether. Let’s face it, our behavior is sometimes unacceptable. Trusting God’s Word, acknowledging our sin, admitting our guilt, renouncing our idolatry, repenting of our evil ways and turning from our ungodliness has to precede God’s purification and cleansing for all of us. We as Christians have to admit these things, then repent and recognize that we are sinners who need a Savior. His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection cleansed us of our wicked ways, which led to the forgiveness of our sins. We have been washed in His precious blood, declared righteous in His eyes and we are now able live a life that is holy unto the Lord.
