John 10:9-10

I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Did you know that, back in olden days, the pins that the sheep slept in did not have a gate door to close? At night, the shepherd would place his sheep in a small pen and he would actually sleep in the opening of the pen. He did this as the protector of the sheep. And when daylight came, he would lead the sheep back to good pasture. The shepherd left the comfort of his home to protect the sheep. Why would anyone do such a thing? Because he desired to keep his sheep healthy, fed, and protected. Sound familiar? Jesus left the comfort of His home, Heaven, led His followers, protected them, fed them, and eventually layed down His life for them…for us. How could we ever show our gratitude for what He has done? There are days that we all lose sight of Jesus and His amazing sacrifice. It is on those days that we are the most vulnerable to temptation. We just need to continue to ask for forgiveness and keep our eyes on Him. He has given abundantly to us, we must try to never lose sight of this.
