Luke 1:37

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

This verse has long been one of my favourites, and is a clear reminder that the things we think are impossible, are possible with God. Matthew, Mark, and Luke all feature iterations of this truth…Matthew 19:26 – “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”. Mark 10:27 – “And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Luke 1:37 – “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” This is the beautiful passage that announced to Mary the conception and birth of the Lord Jesus Who is the Messiah of Israel, Savior of the world, Redeemer of humanity, and Son of the sovereign God Who is the highest authority in the universe. The Lord promised that the Seed of the woman would crush the serpent’s head, and nothing can change this promise. God promised Abraham an earthly inheritance Whose Builder and Maker is God, and this can never be altered, for nothing is impossible with God. God promised David an eternal throne and everlasting kingdom, and nothing can change this promise, for what is impossible with man is possible with God. And this truth is equally true for you as it is for me…nothing is impossible with respect to any of God’s promises, and the Lord Jesus is the fulfilment of all that God has promised, for all things are in Him and of Him and by Him and for Him. God is the power behind every one of His promises, and God is the truth behind all of His Word. God is the omniscience behind all of His counsel, and He is the supernatural mind behind all of His plans. No promise from God will ever fail to reach its fulfilment, for every directive that proceeds from the mind of the Almighty must arrive at its ultimate completion, for NOTHING is impossible with respect to any of God’s promises. This truth is fully consistent with the perfect nature of God’s character and totally compatible with His eternal perfection. If God has promised it, nothing will stand in the way of its final fulfilment. It is unbelief that questions the Word of God and doubt that casts a shadow over the veracity of God’s promises, for they are all yes and amen in Christ. Let us believe that nothing is impossible with respect to each and every one of God’s precious promises to us, and demonstrate the same, trusting faith that was expressed by Mary…that nothing is impossible to God, even when we don’t understand. No matter where you are today, even if the task at hand seems impossible or like it just won’t work out, trust God. He has a way of working things out exceeding abundantly above all we could ask or think, if we’ll only trust in Him!
